Lisa Gelfand, FAIA, LEED AP
Lisa has 38 years of experience and is the managing principal of Gelfand Partners Architects, where she has designed or supervised the design of over 40 education projects and 4,000 units of affordable housing. She has served on the Green Committee of the Advisory Board to California’s Division of the State Architect (DSA). Lisa has taught and lectured at universities in New Zealand and the US, and is the author of Sustainable School Architecture and co-author of Sustainable Renovation (with Chris Duncan).
Chris Duncan, AIA, LEED AP
Chris has 26 years of experience and is a principal and senior staff manager at Gelfand Partners. His duties include project management, design, marketing, and staff management. He has managed projects through all phases, and has special expertise in educational and residential design, particularly the modernization of early 20th century buildings. He serves on the Technical Committee of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), and is the co-author of Sustainable Renovation (with Lisa Gelfand).
James Fagler, AIA
Jim has 33 years of experience and is a principal of Gelfand Partners. Jim’s experience includes 18 years of multifamily housing, community and service-oriented facilities, and clinic and commercial space design and construction. He thoroughly understands S.F. Planning and Building Departments code and process, and requirements of the Mayor’s Office of Disability, S.F. Redevelopment Agency, S.F. Seismic Loan Program, and FEMA funding.
Lawrence Schadt, AIA, ASLA, LEED AP
Larry is an architect and landscape architect with over 22 years of design experience, including 17 in architecture and 5 in landscape architecture. He joined Gelfand Partners in 2002, was appointed an associate in 2005 and became a principal in 2007. Larry’s duties include project management, design, construction documents and construction administration. He has been project architect on several award winning projects, and is experienced in campus design for complex projects.
Tobin Kendrick, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CASp
Tobin became a Gelfand Partners principal in 2008. He has 33 years of experience, specializing in public and private school work throughout his career. He has been project architect for numerous jobs that he managed through to completion. Before joining GP in 2006, he served 6.5 years as Associate Director of Facilities Planning at City College of San Francisco. He has extensive knowledge of budgeting, project and construction management, and State funding of public schools.
