Tanforan Cottage

An unexpected serene spot in the middle of urban San Francisco, the Tanforan Cottage, built in 1854, is the oldest remaining residential structure in the Mission district.

Gelfand Partners modernized the existing house while protecting its historic characteristics, and added a second flat and additional living space. The historic home now serves as independent living for people with HIV/AIDS.
