Buchanan Park Apartments

Accessibility and energy upgrades to family apartments in townhouses and flats, including new windows, a solar thermal system and energy star appliances. Imposing metal bar security enclosures were replaced with new security walls in a complimentary relationship with the existing building. Upper floor balconies were upgraded with new metal railings and new openings in existing walls to allow more light and air into the balcony.

Transformation of an existing derelict building into a service-rich community serving low income women and their infant/toddler children. A total renovation of all systems and finishes, seismic upgrade of the entire building, new elevator installation and layout of the service and residential spaces provides a secure and supportive home. The adjacent vacant has been converted to day care and play space for the young children in the building.

Seismic improvements and finishes renovation of 80 structures at the Presidio of San Francisco, including site amenities and landscaping, site pathways, seismic upgrades and exterior renovations to the residential and the garage structures.

Saint Andrew’s has undergone a renovation of its 60 affordable senior apartments. Improvements include facade modifications, a new elevator tower, apartment updates, common space improvements, and accessibility upgrades, solar thermal and other energy efficiency measures.

Rehabilitation of an 8 story building. All units have been upgraded with new toilet rooms and micro refreshment centers. A new double elevator tower, plumbing, electrical and finish upgrades have transformed the building for the next 50 years. The ground floor has been reprogrammed to allow for maximum community-building tenant interaction in a safe and secure environment.

Saint Patrick’s Terrace received a face lift, inside and out, in order to better serve a community of 65 low income seniors in Oakland. Improvements included facade modifications, new elevator tower, apartment updates, common space improvements, accessibility upgrades, and sustainable design features.

Rehabilitation of 110 separate wood frame buildings on a hillside in the Hunter’s Point/Bayview neighborhood. All exterior finishes and windows have been replaced, and accessible upgrades have been made to common spaces. Interior upgrades to all units include finishes, system upgrades and path of travel upgrades.

Restoration of the landmark Lake Merritt Hotel, a 1927 Art Deco jewel to serve a diverse range of seniors, including LGBT’s. Common areas, 24-hour concierge service, and an on-site spa and fitness room were provided along with sensitive insertions of accessibility features. All apartments received new kitchens and bathrooms, with an emphasis on historic compatibility and senior usability.

Three two-story wood frame buildings constructed in 1970. Modernization included new windows, siding, roofing, seismic improvements and mechanical and electrical upgrades. A new community services building housing meeting rooms, computer training center and kitchen was constructed.

Upgrades to all major building systems included seismic bracing, inserting kitchenettes into crowded apartments, creating or expanding community space, and adding staff offices. Mimi’s Manor House restaurant, which serves the tenants and the neighborhood, was modernized and a large window adding.

This apartment building constructed in 1911 is on the edge of the Tenderloin District. Larkin Street Youth Center is operating the building as housing for formerly homeless youth, including six units for youth with HIV/AIDS. Scope included seismic upgrade, accessibility upgrades, fire damage repair, mechanical/electrical systems modernization, and renovations providing space for resident social services.
