Tanforan Cottage, built in 1852 (National Register of Historic Buildings),is the oldest existing residential structure in San Francisco’s Mission District. This project, which modernized and expanded the cottage while preserving its historic features, received a Preservation Design Award for Rehabilitation and Adaptive Reuse.

The cottage was redesigned to provide independent living for people with HIV/AIDS.
